Information on the nomination process, and next steps of the Stipendium Hungaricum application
Now that the technical check of applications is completed, it is the turn of the Sending Partners to conduct the nomination process. In this article, we give you an insight into the ongoing processes and next steps of the application.
By now, everyone who applied for the Stipendium Hungaricum scholarship (for the academic year 2023/2024) has received the notification about the results of the technical check, and all applications that passed have been forwarded to the Sending Partners for pre-selection. The next step in the application timeline is called the nomination process.
What is the nomination process and how Sending Partners are involved in it?
To understand why the Sending Partners are involved in the application process you need to know that the scholarship programme is based on bilateral educational cooperation agreements signed between the Ministries responsible for education in the sending countries/territories and Hungary. The application process is carried out by Tempus Public Foundation, with the cooperation of the Sending Partners and the Hungarian higher education institutions. At this stage of the application, only those applications can be further considered that will be nominated by the responsible authorities of the Sending Partner.
So it is now time for the Sending Partners to conduct pre-selection until the end of February. They need to select those – sometimes from among several hundreds/thousands of applicants – who meet the criteria set by the Sending Partners, which can differ from partner to partner, according to the priorities defined by them. Please note that Sending Partners can only nominate applicants with the same citizenship.
As soon as we receive the list of nominated students (including the reserve list) from the Sending Partners, we will inform you about the pre-selection results, and let you know whether you were nominated or not. You may expect to receive this information in the course of March.
In case you would like to inquire about the exact selection methods and guidelines set by your Sending Partner, we advise you to get in contact with them directly. You may find their contact details by clicking on the following link and selecting your country of citizenship from the drop-down list: https://stipendiumhungaricum.hu/partners/
What’s next?
– If you become nominated you will be able to continue the application process and you will be considered for the second round of selection: the institutional evaluation. This means that your documents will be forwarded to the selected institution(s) and the institutions will contact you regarding the admission process. Also, please keep in mind, that all nominated applicants must submit the medical certificate until 15 April, and the Statement of the Supervisor (only for doctoral applicants, if required by the doctoral school) must be submitted until 15 March 2023.
– If you will not be nominated by your Sending Partner, unfortunately, you cannot proceed with your Stipendium Hungaricum application for the academic year 2023/2024. However, you still have the option to contact your chosen university about the possibility and requirements of starting your studies as a self-financed student. For further details regarding self-financed studies, please contact the institutional coordinators. Their contact details can be found on the following link: https://stipendiumhungaricum.hu/study-finder/
We wish you good luck with your application and hope to welcome you among our scholarship holders soon!
